1. Contemporary Elegance

  • Built by Lasher Construction in 2015
  • Architect Scott Snyder, Scott Snyder Design
  • 4,560 square feet
  • 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms
  • Northeast Boise

This custom home was built by the owners and architect to reflect their personal style. Some features that typify contemporary style in this home are the all-glass wall shower surround, sweeping windows and large wraparound balcony for taking in views of Owyhee Mountains and the twinkling lights of downtown Boise. In keeping with the clean lines of contemporary style, there is minimal trim work, smooth finished walls and high-gloss finish cabinetry. A floating mantle and fireplace hearth, the use of concrete, sleek lines and a monochromatic color palette mixed with industrial metal and wood elements complete and harmonize the contemporary look.

2. Frank Lloyd Wright-Inspired

  • Built in 1999
  • 2,709 square feet
  • 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
  • Northeast Boise

Inspired by the organic architectural style of Frank Lloyd Wright from the early 1900s, this custom home was built and designed by the owners. They wanted something custom and unique, unlike any other home in the neighborhood. This home was designed around the existing natural rock boulders on the property in harmony with Wright’s philosophy that “A building should appear to grow easily from its site and be shaped to harmonize with its surroundings if nature is manifest there.” This is also achieved by repeating patterns based on nature throughout the building and the use of natural materials. Cantilever building elements and flat rooflines make for a stunning silhouette and maximize window space to take in the downtown Boise views.

3. Mid-Century Modern-Inspired

  • Built by HL Worx in 2018
  • Architect: Robin Gates, Studio L Architecture Inc.
  • 2,671 square feet
  • 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms
  • North End Boise

A mountain home with a city twist. Mid-century modern style incorporates metal and wood elements, often seen in mountain homes, bringing the outdoors into this North End foothills home through the incorporation of natural colors and wood tones. Characterized by an open design, simplicity and the use of glass to encourage a connection with nature, mid-century modern homes were originally built from 1945 to 1980. The pitched angles of roof elements mimic the angles of the foothills behind the home.
