Backpacking in Style 2

A List of Essentials for Blue Lake

Blue Lake is one of my favorite backpacking destinations for a quick escape into the Boise National Forest. With a hike that is just under a mile, it’s a perfect introduction to backpacking and allows for packing some heavier, luxury items that you wouldn’t want for a longer trip into the backcountry. No problem on this short hike. A nice water filter provides unlimited water, and with some skill/luck, you can catch your dinner in the pristine blue waters of Blue Lake. Nestled below Snowbank Mountain and Granite Peak, the night sky is as beautiful as it comes during the quiet evening hours.
