Mark Allen’s Huckleberry Cocktail
Difficult to cultivate and found naturally in the wild, huckleberry is the state fruit of Idaho. Bartender Mark Allen shares his berry-inspired cocktail.
A native of Boise, Mark has been with Barbacoa for six years. “Boise Weekly” has named him Best Bartender five times, and he is a Level 1 Sommelier. His favorite cocktail is sazerac, which is served in a signature martini glass made of ice known as an “icetini.”
2 ounces Koenig Huckleberry Vodka
5 ounces white cranberry juice
3 fresh Idaho huckleberrries
Pour 2 ounces Koenig Huckleberry Vodka into glass. Top with 5 ounces white cranberry juice and stir. Garnish with three huckleberries and serve.
The phrase “I’m your huckleberry” is a way of saying that one is just the right person for a given job.
