New Boise Bright Pink Support Group

Are you at risk of developing hereditary breast or ovarian cancer? Bright Pink is the only national non-profit organization focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women ages 18-45. Emily Barker is the Boise Support Ambassador. Barker lease monthly Outreach Groups where individuals get together and connect with other high risk women about hteir experiences. New Horizon Academy Collects Books for Donation

In honor of “I Love to Read” month, New Horizon Academy families were recently invited to bring new or gently used books to any New Horizon Academy locations.

“Developing early literacy skills is essential for a child to succeed in elementary school,” says Cassie Wallace, director of New Horizon Academy, West Ustick. “We are thrilled to help support the important mission of Reach Out and Read.” All 391 donated books will be donated to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

A Special Mother’s Day at Chandlers

Chandlers is proud to coordinate with the Women’s and Children’s Alliance for a special Mother’s Day dinner in order to promote safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. Chandlers will match all donations made by their guests on that day. Other local businesses will also partner with Chandlers for this donation.

The restaurant will be open from 2  to 10 p.m. Treat your mom to a very special Mother’s Day while enjoying the live music, and supporting an excellent cause.

National Bike Month

May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.

Whether you bike to work or school; ride to save money or time; pump those pedals to preserve your health or the environment; or simply to explore your community, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons to ride.

Veterans Honored in Eagle

The Eagle Field of Honor flags will stand  proudly from May 16-26 at Merrill Park, 637 E Shore Dr, Eagle. They will start flying on Armed Forces Day and continue through the Memorial Day holiday. The opening ceremony is on Saturday, May 16 at 4 p.m. It is an opportunity to publicly voice our gratitude to the military that has so bravely protected our freedoms. We are able to recognize the individuals that each flag represents. With the help of sponsors, we are able to present this family friendly event to the public for free. There are no admission costs.

There will be a free barbecue for veterans and currently serving military personnel immediately following the opening ceremony. A $5 donation is requested for non-military.

2015 Boise Idaho Parade of Homes

The 2014 Boise Parade of Homes will have 40 new homes on display by 34 of the area’s hottest builders. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the latest trends in new construction including interior and exterior designs, appliances, flooring and much more. Lucky Winner Receives Fat Bike

Congratulations to Lauri Thompson, the lucky winner of The Eastside Cycles/Boise Lifestyle Fat Bike Giveaway. Thompson, an avid cyclist, was thrilled to win the Felt, Double Double 70 valued at $1,400.
